Reptile #1

I noticed this slimy blue spotted salamander walking towards a little pond. This amphibian is generally black with blue flakes on its sides and limbs. It is about 3.5 to 5.5 inches long and the salamander feeds on insects, spiders, worms and other small invertebrates. The scientific name for the blue spotted salamander is Ambystoma Laterale. One female can lay up to 500 eggs. The larvae begin to grow after they hatch. Not many animals eat salamanders except snakes because of their taste.
