I saw this red tailed hawk perched on a cliff. this bird is about 18 to 26 inches long with a wingspan of  38 to 42 inches long. the hawk weighs about 24 to 51 oz. The red tailed hawk is a red brown, cinnamon and pale with a stripped belly and wings. with very large tallons to catch their prey. The female lays about 1 to 5 eggs each year. They feed on mice, rabbits, reptiles and other small birds. They are usually not the prey.
